[Unfinished one-on-one scene between Cass and Rowan]

Cass: Aresha stood outside the palace, her hand clinging to Roux’s as she took it in. The massive white structure made her feel as small as it had when she was a child. “Here we are,” she said quietly, her voice barely loud enough to hear over the wind.

Rowan: “Here we are,” Roux echoed, her eyes focused on Aresha. She knew this would be a lot for her. “Let’s go inside.”

Cass: Aresha continued to watch the palace as if it would come to life and swallow her whole. “I don’t know if I can,” she said, her voice sounding far away. “We left so quickly that night. Maybe it’s better if I don’t go back to that world. Captaining a ship doesn’t make me a queen.”

Rowan: “Yes, it does,” Roux said firmly. “It means exactly that. You fought to get back to your people. And I refuse to let you give up now just because you’re scared.”

Cass: “Of course I’m scared,” Aresha admitted, her eyes widening. “I’m terrified. Leading a crew doesn’t compare to leading all of Girishtova.”

Rowan: “Then use that fear,” Roux said. “Use it as you’ve always used it. And trust me and the rest of the crew to help as we’ve always done.”

Cass: Aresha glanced at Roux. The falling snow was starting to stick to her hair and eyelashes. She looked beautiful. “I hate that you’re always right,” she said, to cover up the fact that she wanted to kiss her and forget all about her fears.

Rowan: “Someone has to be,” Roux said, grinning gently as she squeezed Aresha’s hand. “Come on. Let’s put you on the throne, my queen.”

Cass: ((You should start calling me that.))

Rowan: ((I’ll consider it.))
